DEAR COMRADE, – I don’t want to continue this controversy, which has already gone on long enough. But I do just want to say that I cannot at all agree with the position of Mr. “Republican” that this precious entente cordials outweighs every other consideration. It seems to me that the present entente cordiale means little more than a pact between robbers by which the nefarious colonial tricks of the British Government are to be backed by France and the nefarious colonial tricks of the French Government are to be backed by Britain, while both agree to warn off other powers, especially Germany, against spoiling each other’s respective “games.” A “Republican’s” enthusiasm for this sort of entente cordiale I certainly cannot share. – Yours, etc.,
E. Belfort Bax
