Don

1. A river in Western Russia, starting near Tula (about 190 Kilometres South of Moscow), and flowing South into the Azovskoye More (Sea of Azov -- in the Black Sea). Near Vologograd a canal links the river with Volga river. The Don is 1,870 km long.

2. An area in Russia along the river Don (and including the Eastern portion of the Ukraine), commonly refered to as the Bread-Basket of Russia with 17 million hectacres of arable land.
