Comrades,

I was very glad to see the Dec. 26 issue of The Call and in particular the editorial “The Road to Communist Unity.”

I am a factory worker and a former member of the “Revolutionary Wing.” I have direct experience with the “left”-sectarian stance of the “Wing” and have learned through concrete experience that the “Wing” stands in direct opposition to Marxist-Leninist unity.

Like the “gang of four,” which the “Wing” refuses to oppose, they pose as Marxist-Leninists to attack Marxism-Leninism, as “staunch fighters for the Marxist-Leninist line” and as “true Bolsheviks,” while trampling over the principles of the Bolshevik Party of Lenin and Stalin.

The “Wing” has opposed the Marxist-Leninist line on practically all the questions of our movement. Besides opposing the “gang of four” (but in fact supporting them and slandering the glorious and correct Communist Party of China and its Central Committee under the leadership of Chairman Hua Kuo-feng by saying that the “gang” gave leadership in the Cultural Revolution and that the reinstatement of Comrade Teng Hsiao-ping is a “reversal of correct verdicts” on the part of the CPC), the leadership of the “Wing” has verbally opposed Chairman Mao’s theory of the three worlds.

I must say I fell temporarily into the same trap. As Chairman Mao said, “Our dogmatists are lazy bones.” This came from not recognizing the complexity of the class struggle in the world today and the sharp analysis and guide that Chairman Mao’s theory provides.

Today I have joined the effort for Marxist-Leninist unity and will do whatever I can to forge the unity of Marxist-Leninists. I recognize the contribution of the Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) to this objective.

Due to an incorrect line and also state activity to some extent, many honest comrades were purged and driven away, some leaving the anti-revisionist communist movement completely.

Some comrades say they remain Marxist-Leninists, but are carrying out little or no activity, content to criticize from the sidelines. Some comrades have organizationally broken with the “Wing” but not completely with the line. Some comrades are being attracted to other formations like RCP and WVO. Some comrades have regrouped themselves in small collectives, and some comrades feel so burned and have been so demoralized that they refuse to do anything at all!

In the past few months, the “Wing” has rapidly disintegrated “like a snow ball in hell,” and many if not most of the cadres have left.

I take this opportunity to voice my unity with the efforts of the Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) in calling for a Marxist-Leninist Unity Committee in the U.S. Today, this is an urgent question, as the danger of war grows, along with the necessity of Marxist-Leninists to prepare the proletariat and oppressed masses to turn the imperialist war into civil war.

Every day the masses are advancing in struggle as the imperialist crisis grows deeper and deeper. We need a unified communist party to lead the proletariat in the most direct route to the smashing of the bourgeois state and the establishment of the dictatorship of the proletariat.

The call for a unity committee is indeed the implementation of the slogan “Marxist-Leninists Unite!” and a concrete effort to strengthen the unity of Marxist-Leninists through the M-L principles of unity-struggle-unity.

I call on all comrades, the workers, youth, students, community activists who at one time or another worked with the RWL, PRRWO, PRSU, ALSC and the “Wing” to join these efforts to further carry out the central task of Marxist-Leninists in the U.S. I call on these comrades in particular, but also unite in calling on all comrades in the anti-revisionist communist movement in general to unite.

Again, I was very happy to see the editorial. I wish you great success. Marxist-Leninists Unite to Win Still Greater Victories!
