ON ASIAN COMMUNITY CENTER/WEI MIN SHE’S WITHDRAWAL FROM THE OCTOBER 1st CELEBRATION COMMITTEE

We feel strongly that the manner in which ACC/WMS unilaterally and without any discussion or consultation, dropped out of the celebration was a destructive and divisive act. It was taken without any consideration of the necessity for unity within the progressive forces, or the need for struggle over different political principles within progressive forces in order to achieve that unity. Criticisms of positions ACC felt were incorrect should have been stated more strongly at the time. They should still be discussed openly and in a more comradely manner among organizations represented on the committee, including ACC. For ACC to publicize this disagreement and refuse to cooperate any longer with the Celebration Committee, without trying to struggle out differences first is an irresponsible act, which the KMT reactionaries and all reactionaries will rejoice over and seize upon.

We feel that ACC should reconsider their position and continue to work in a united front manner with other progressive forces.
