Morning Post, 18 April 1801

This Saturday Thomas Spence, a bookseller, in Oxford Street, was arrested by Townsend and Revett, two of the Bow-street officers, under authority of a warrant from Mr. Ford, for selling a certain seditious and inflammatory publication, called "The Restorer of Society to its natural State; in a Series of Letters to a Fellow Citizen." Spence, after being examined before Mr. Ford, was committed to Tothill-fields Bridewell for trial.
