PCDN received the news of the founding of the Communist Youth Union of Canada (Marxist-Leninist) during the founding convention held in Montreal from August 15 to 22, 1976 with great enthusiasm and satisfaction. This is an important victory for the youth of this country who are daily under attack by U.S. imperialism and Canadian monopoly capitalism, as the burden of the economic crisis is shifted on to their shoulders to the maximum. With the founding of CYUC(ML), the revolutionary youth of our country have a great fighting weapon to mobilize the youth against U.S. imperialism and Canadian monopoly capitalism.

The youth of our country have no other future but in revolution. They are economically exploited, politically without any voice, and culturally and spiritually smashed. They are daily pushed into the wall, without any way out. During the 1960’s, the youth in Canada revolted on a large scale. They attacked the backward and reactionary values of imperialism, they denounced the bourgeois decadent educational system, they opposed the imperialist policies of aggression and war, they vigorously supported the national liberation struggles of the people of Asia, Africa and Latin America, and waged many revolutionary struggles against the U.S. imperialist dominated Canadian state. They rejected the bogus theories of revisionism and other brands of opportunism, adopted Marxism-Leninism-Mao Tsetung Thought as the theory guiding their thinking and disseminated Marxism-Leninism-Mao Tsetung Thought on a large role. They integrated with the working class and waged a tit-for-tat struggle against the attacks of the state. They founded the Internationalists and the Canadian Student Movement, and firmly carried out the task of re-establishing the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist) on the theoretical foundation of Marxism-Leninism-Mao Tsetung Thought and in Marxist-Leninist revolutionary style. They have shown the indomitable spirit of daring to struggle and daring to win and rebelling against reactionaries.

During this year, the youth in Quebec gave birth to such new contingents as the Learn from the People and Serve the People Committee. All over Canada, working class youth and other sections of the youth are coming forward to participate in the historic revolutionary campaign to Make the Rich Pay.

PCDN believes that it is most timely that CYUC(ML) has been founded. The founding of CYUC(ML) is a big blow to the revisionist youth league, the Trotskyites and other opportunist trends. CYUC(ML) is the instrument of propaganda and reservoir of new cadres for the Party. CYUC(ML) was founded after a week-long discussion among delgates from all regions of Canada. From the time when the decision was made to establish the CYUC(ML), that is during the Fourth Consultative Conference on May 15-16, 1976 to date, tremendous progress has been made in the work of establishing CYUC(ML). One of the tasks of the CYUCIML) is to hold its First Congress which will be convened after the Third Congress of CPC(ML). PCDN vigorously hails the revolutionary spirit of the Canadian youth.

LONG LIVE COMMUNIST YOUTH UNION OF CANADA (MARXIST-LENINIST)!
