MIA Note: EROL has reproduced the complete text of In Struggle’s Create the Marxist-Leninist Organization of Struggle for the Party that was originally published by in the last issue of Western Voice in 1976. This document also includes the section that appears in this issue of Canadian Revolution: To Chart the Path of the Revolution is a Task of Prime Importance

We are very pleased in the first issue of Canadian Revolution to be presenting articles from two Marxist-Leninist groups in Quebec: EN LUTTE! and the Mouvement Revolutionnaire des Etudiants du Quebec. Both articles are excerpts from more comprehensive statements by the respective organizations. The article from EN LUTTE!, discussing the question of the goals and character of the Canadian revolution, is taken from a supplement (to their newspaper) called Creons l’organization Marxiste-Leniniste de lutte pour le Parti. Among the other questions discussed in this supplement were: the role of the Marxist-Leninist vanguard in the movement, the international situation, tactical principles at the present stage of the struggle, and the question of building unity among Marxist-Leninists.

The article from the MREQ is taken from the document En Avant Pour Creation de l’Organization Marxiste-Leniniste. The selections in Canadian Revolution have been selected by the MREQ, at our request, to present their political line on the question of party-building. The complete document also deals with such questions as the international situation, class contradictions in Canada, and Communist work in the trade unions.

The English translation from Creons has been verified by EN LUTTE! and the article from the document En Avant is from the English translation by the MREQ.

We wish to emphasize that we are not presenting EN LUTTE! and MREQ as the only Marxist-Leninist groups in Quebec. The communist movement is advancing relatively rapidly in Quebec and a number of Marxist-Leninist groups have developed. We are aware at this time of two other Marxist-Leninist groups which have published statements of their political principles for discussion: La Cellule Ouvriere Revolutionnaire has published Pour l’Organization Marxiste-Leniniste and La Cellule Militante Ouvriere has published Pour l’Unification des Marxiste-Leninistes.

Canadian Revolution considers the development of Marxist-Leninist groups with clear political lines in Quebec to be of great significance for the revolutionary movement in all of Canada. We look forward to receiving contributions from other groups in Quebec. We will try to play a special role in making the positions of Quebec Marxist-Leninists available in English and in promoting comradely criticisms of these positions by English-Canadian Marxist-Leninists; with the goal at all times of building principled unity among Canadian communists.
