Order of the Day, addressed to Army-General Chernyakhovsky and Col.-Gen. Zakharov, announces that troops of the Third and Second Byelorussian Fronts, by the skilful collaboration of their formations, on July 16, captured by storm the town and fortress of Grodno, a large railway junction and important fortified area of the German defences covering the approaches to the frontiers of East Prussia.

The Order mentions 44 commanders of cavalry men, troops, artillerymen, tankmen, airmen sappers and signallers whose units and formations have distinguished themselves.

A salute of 20 salvoes was fired by 224 Moscow guns.
