The Ohio Socialist (1918-1920)
Newspaper of the Ohio Socialist Party it represented the Left Wing of the Socialist Party of the America. The newspaper reflected the strong anti-war positions of the mostly immigrant Cleveland working class and the Ohio Socialist became the tribune for this sentiment throught Ohio and other parts of the eastern Mid-West. Strong supporters of Eugene V. Debs it’s editors and readers became supporters of the newly founded Communist Labor Party in 1919. It merged The Communist to become The Toiler as the main weekly of the new communist movement.
