A delegation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (M-L) recently returned from a visit to the People’s Republic oj China. Delegation members Eileen Klehr. vice-chairman of the CPML, and Sherman Miller, member of the Party Central Committee, attended a banquet in their honor on Aug. 25, hosted by Keng Piao, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, head of its International Liaison Department and vice-premier of the State Council. Below we reprint the text of Keng Piao’s speech at the banquet.

Dear Comrade Klehr,
Dear Comrade Miller,

On behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, I extend to you our warm welcome.

Since the smashing of the “gang of four,” the situation in our country has been excellent and our socialist revolution and socialist construction has since then entered a new period of development.

Since your visit to our country in the summer of last year, we have successfully held the Party’s Eleventh Congress and the Fifth National People’s Congress, at which the general task for the new period was put forward.

At present, under the leadership of the Party’s Central Committee headed by our wise leader Chairman Hua, the people of all nationalities in our country are waging a deep-going campaign to expose and criticize the “gang of four.” They are determined to exert all their efforts and to go all out in order to realize the modernization of agriculture, industry, national defense, and science and technology by the end of this century.

In the past year, in our work to grasp the key link of class struggle and run the country well, we have achieved successes which far exceeded our expectations. We are fully confident that we will be able to overcome all difficulties on the road and to win victory in the new Long March.

At present the international situation is very good. The people of various countries in the world are waging an active struggle against imperialism, colonialism and hegemonism. The international united front against hegemonism is steadily being consolidated and is developing.

In the past year, continuing to hold high the great banner of Marxism-Leninism-Mao Tsetung Thought, the Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) of the U.S.A. has conscientiously integrated Marxism-Leninism with the concrete revolutionary practice of their country, has done an even better job in the ideological and organization building of the Party, attached importance to the work among the masses and propaganda work, paid attention to summing· up experiences and lessons, and has incessantly achieved new progress in the struggle.

This is particularly true of the tremendous amount of work you have done in your efforts to unite with other Marxist-Leninist organizations and revolutionary forces. From the bottom of our hearts we rejoice at the victories your Party has won in the last year.

Our two Parties have common views on the major issues pertaining to the present international situation and the international communist movement. Both of us are determined to defend the fundamental principles of Marxism-Leninism and to fight to the end against modern revisionism, imperialism and hegemonism, especially Soviet social-imperialism.

We wish to thank the Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) of the U.S.A. for the efforts it has made to defend Mao-Tsetung Thought, and the deep confidence and great support it has shown to Chairman Hua and the Chinese Communist Party. I am confident that through this visit of yours, the revolutionary friendship and fighting unity between our two Parties and, two peoples will be further strengthened.

We wish the Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) of the U.S.A. continued new victories in the struggle against the two superpowers, the monopoly bourgeoisie at home and revisionism in the struggle to strengthen Party building and unite with all other Marxist-Leninists, and in the struggle to wage broad mass movements and’ build a broad united front against hegemony. May I now propose a toast:

To the ever-growing fighting unity and friendship between our two Parties;
To the new victories that will continue to be achieved by the CPML under the leadership of the Central Committee headed by Comrade Michael Klonsky;
To the good health of Comrade Eileen Klehr and Comrade Sherman Miller.
