V. Immediate Demands of the Proletariat

To protect the physical, political and moral well-being of the proletariat and to raise its capacity to struggle against the bourgeoisie, the Party makes the following immediate demands.

1. To improve the economic and social well-being of the working people, to oppose all attempts to worsen the living conditions of the proletariat and its allies, we demand and fight for:
* The right of all people to work, to safe and healthy working conditions with no forced overtime. The right to rest must be guaranteed.
* A maximum eight hour day in 24 hours and a five day work week. No more than six hours work in hazardous working conditions. A minimum two weeks paid vacation and ten paid holidays per year for all those employed.
* Full compensation and coverage for all work related injuries without penalty or loss of seniority.
* Full compensation for maternity leave one month prior to childbirth, full compensation with leave for either parent for two months after childbirth. Free childcare on a 24 hour basis.
* Free and safe abortion upon request. Free distribution of safe methods of birth control. An end to forced sterilization.
* An end to all child labor under the age of 16. Full wage rates for all those employed, regardless of age.
* Economic, social and cultural support in old age, in the event of illness or loss of ability to work. An end to mandatory retirement. Voluntary retirement at 60 with full material support.
* An end to exorbitant land rents. Cancellation of debts on small farmers’ land and equipment.
* The right to inexpensive and quality housing, food, transportation and medical care.
* An end to the ruin and waste of natural resources.

2. To protect the political rights and fighting capacity of the proletariat and its allies, to oppose all bourgeois violence, political intimidation, terror or brutalization of the people, we demand and fight for:
* Freedom of speech, press, assembly, organization, association, expression, demonstration, communication and travel. The material resources necessary to exercise such freedoms for the proletariat and its allies.
* The right to organize our own political party, trade unions, social, cultural and political organizations.
* The right to strike.
* Genuine equality for all working and oppressed people without regard to nationality, race, sex, religious beliefs, age or language.
* The right to education and information in one’s native language.
* The right of women to equality in work, pay, holidays, education and all social and political activity. The right to be free from rape, violence, pornography or other chauvinist and degenerate assaults on women.
* The equality of children born out of wedlock.
* The right to bear arms and the right to self-defense. Repeal and prohibition of all gun control laws.
* The right to organize in the U.S. military.
* The right to destroy all fascist, anti-democratic organizations and those that seek to incite national, racial or sexual hatred.
* The right to refuse to fight in an imperialist war. The right to participate in wars of national liberation and civil wars against the ruling class.

3. To defend the right of oppressed nations to self-determination, for the equality of nations and for national liberation, we demand and fight for:
* The right of self-determination, up to and including secession for the Black Nation and the Chicano Nation.
* Immediate and full independence for Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Micronesia.
* Just settlement of treaties signed with the Native Indian peoples and the removal of all U.S. government and military police personnel from Indian reservations.
* An end to all hostile activity toward all socialist countries. The immediate recognition of all socialist countries.
* An end to all unequal and unfair treaties between the U.S. and other countries.
* The immediate withdrawal of all U.S. military forces and advisors from all foreign soil. This includes both colonies and neo-colonies outside the U.S. and the oppressed nations within the state borders. The immediate withdrawal from all military blocs and associations.
* The initiation of reparations to countries, nations and peoples who have suffered damage at the hands of U.S. imperialism.
* The right of residence and political asylum for any foreign national persecuted for supporting the interests of the proletariat.
* The abolition of all U.S. restrictions on travel for citizens of foreign countries in the U.S. and citizens of the U.S. outside of the U.S.
* Full democratic rights for workers in the U.S. who are citizens of foreign countries and an end to all deportations.
