Is There Any Choice?
Sir Edward Berrington-Behrens
Penguin, 3s 6d

This is a manifesto of the Chamber of Commerce Internationalists. Reiterating all the arguments pointing to the need for entry into the EEC, Sir Edward allows a note of desperation to creep in when considering the alternatives – chronic stagnation without or absorption in toto by the US. Like many of his kind Sir Edward wants to have his cake and eat it; partnership with the US, independent military role and entry to Europe – De Gaulle can clearly see that Trojan Horse a mile away.
