THE PROVISIONAL GOVERNMENT,

Considering that the revolution made by the people must be made for them;
That it is time to put an end to the long and iniquitous sufferings of the workers;
That the labor question is of supreme importance;
That there is no higher or more worthy concern for a republican government;
That it is especially up to France to ardently study and resolve a problem posed today in all the industrialized nations of Europe;
That every effort must be made to guarantee the people, with the least possible delay, the legitimate fruits of their labor,

The Provisional Government of the Republic
DECREES:

A permanent commission, which shall be called The Government Commission for Workers will be named, with the express and special mission of seeing to their lot.

In order to show the importance the Provisional Government of the Republic attaches to the solution of the great problem it is naming as the president of the Government Commission for Workers one of its members, Louis Blanc, and as Vice-president another of its members, M. Albert, worker.

Workers will be called upon to take part in the Commission.

The Commission’s seat will be at the Luxembourg Palace
