Revolt 'The Voice Of The Militant Worker' was a short-lived revolutionary weekly newspaper published by Left Wingers in the Socialist Party Local San Francisco in 1911 and 1912. Bookstore owner, publisher and Left S.P. mayoral candidate William Mcdevitt along with Marxist intellectuals who embraced industrial unionism like Caroline Nelson, Austin Lewis, Nathan Greist, and Cloudseley Johns. Supporting the Haywood position in the S.P., some, like Austin Lewis, would leave the S.P. with Haywoods’ expulsion. The paper Iwould become associated with Tom Mooney. as well. The legendary activists and future political prisoner had recently left the I.W.W. and settled in the Bay and helped to produce Revolt. The paper ran around 1500 copies weekly, but financial problems ended its run after one year The paper epitomizes the revolutionary Left of the SP before World War One with its mix of Marxist orthodoxy, industrial unionism, and counter-cultural attitude. To that it adds some of the best writers in the movement; it deserved a much longer run.
