(1932-1935)
Introduction
The Student Outlook was a magazine published initially published under the name Revolt by the Intercollegiate Student Council of the League for Industrial Democracy (LID). After two issues, the magazine changed its name to Student Outlook. The LID was a social democratic organization formed in 1921 with close ties to the Socialist Party, USA. In 1933, the Intercollegiate Student Council of the League for Industrial Democracy reorganized itself and changed its name to the Student League for Industrial Democracy (SLID). The SLID continued publication of Student Outlook until 1935.
When, beginning in 1934-35, the Communist movement moved toward a policy of popular fronts, the SLID began negotiations with the Communist National Student League NSL about a merger of the two organizations. When this merger was ultimately effectuated, in December 1935 with the creation of the American Student Union, Student Outlook ceased publication.
